As of 2016 Red Barnet has offered counselling through SletDet to children and young people who have experienced online sexual harassment and online spreading of intimate information and imagery without consent.

Red Barnet is partner in the Project deSHAME which is a collaboration between Childnet (UK), Save the Children (Denmark), Kek Vonal (Hungary) and UCLan (UK), co-financed by the EU. It aims to increase reporting of online sexual harassment among minors and improve multi-sector cooperation in preventing and responding to this behaviour.

The counselling is confidential and offers

  • psychological first aid,
  • information and knowledge (e. g. about legislation and rights)
  • opportunities for action (e. g. how to delete unwanted content og profiles)
  • contact with social media to remove content and
  • contact to authorities, e.g. police.

The helpline offers live telephone and chat counselling.

It is possible to write personal questions to the helpline, which will be answered within a few days.

The helpline also offers help and advice through a chatbot, which is accessible 24/7.

Basically, a single counseling session is provided, but in cases e. g. where SletDet helps to connect to social media and remove content, the counseling will extend over several sessions

On the website children, parents and professional can get information, e. g. on how to delete posted material and profiles and about legislation.
