Mode and context of delivery
This workshop is delivered to secondary caregivers of children. Facilitators from Children’s Society conduct the programme for participants. Information on child abuse and neglect is conveyed through the use of videos, case studies, as well as activities and group discussions.
Level/Nature of staff expertise required
This workshop is conducted by staff members from the Advocacy and Research Department. These staff members are experienced in developing and delivering training on the subject matter of child abuse and neglect prevention.
Intensity/extent of engagement with target group(s)
The duration of this customisable workshop ranges from 2 to 4 hours. Facilitators may modify or condense the workshop contents to tailored to the specific needs of participants. The workshop is presented in English.
Description of intervention
The workshop will enable participants to:
- Appreciate how their personal experiences influence the way they perceive and respond to child abuse and neglect
- Gain deeper insights into the four types of child abuse and neglect, including the signs and symptoms of abuse
- Understand the impact of child abuse and neglect, and that the effects can be long-lasting
- Learn how to manage and report child abuse and neglect concerns which may arise
Evaluation
After each workshop, participants fill in a feedback form, giving their comments on the content, duration, setting and speakers, as well as their overall satisfaction with the workshop.
